Starting today, and hopefully every Friday, we will feature a Friday Funday Playlist. There may be a theme associated with the playlist from time to time, depending on how the spirit moves, but for the most part we will be free balling. However the spirit moves, we will throw up a playlist that seems to be ear worthy for the space and time.

The premier Friday Funlist is Boogie Motel. Leading off with the title track “Boogie Motel,” a mid-era Foghat tune that is 7:20 of pure party boogie, sleaze rock at it’s finest, followed up with “Barefootin,” yes Brownsville station recorded at least one other song other than “Smokin in the Boys Room,” and the Southside Johnny anthem “Looking for a Good Time,” provides a 1-2-3 punch of uniquely American Rock and Roll.

You can’t spell Boogie without having J. Geils and Magic Dick in the mix, and “Struttin’ With My Baby” is a triple word score. And did someone say Flamin’ Groovies? Enough said. And “Don’t Lie to Me,” from the more than stellar Shake Some Action album is a next level effort from perhaps the most underrated band this side of The Kinks.

The playlist goes old school with “Gimme Some,” new school with “Down This Road” from our new favorite band Dr. Boogie, and mixes in some Delbert, Rockpile, and Bonnie Raitt for good measure.

So, pour yourself a scotch and coke, sit back, and enjoy
