Five Cool Ones: Five Cool Albums That Will Light up 2015
Posted by falconi5 on December 31, 2014
2015 is already shaping up to be a banner year for music. The Classic Rock dudes McCartney, Springsteen, Bowie, Elton, , Cohen should all be taking a break in 20015 coming off solid representation in 2014. We have it on good authority that The Little Green Cars are in the studio, and should be coming out with a new record mid 2015 as a follow-up to Absolute Zero, the best album of the year according to the Falcon’s Nest 2013 readers poll. The Decemberists have already released a couple of singles from a new album, Sleater Kinney will be forthcoming with a scorching Post Punk set of The Bangles on steroids, and The Waterboys are putting the finishing touches on what should be an epic set of songs. Let’s just say that there is a little puckering going on in anticipation of the rousing tunes that should reach our ears next year.
Sleater Kinney – Bury Our Friends
The Waterboys – November Tale
From Modern Blues to be released January 19th.
Father John Misty – Chateau Lobby #4 (in C For Two Virgins)
The follow-up to Fear Fun is pretty much a guaranteed top 10, look for I Love You, Honeybear to hit your radar early 2015.
Matthew E. White – Fresh Blood
Fresh Blood is scheduled to hit the shelves March 2015. It has been described as Burt Bacharach meets There’s a Riot Going on, Heady stuff indeed.
Bob Dylan – Full Moon and Empty Arms
A Bob Dylan album in any year is certainly an event, and on Shadows in the Night the gravel voiced one hits on Frank Sinatra favorites covering standards like ” The Night We Called it a Day,” and “Some Enchanted Evening” along others from The Great American Songbook. This should be more than interesting.
