The release season is heating up with everyone trying to scurry to get their releases out in time for the holiday buying season. Prince, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and Herb Alpert all have records out, and the new Luke Winslow King is probably the best of the lot. There should be something for everyone this week. Here are five we particularly like.
Kat Edmondson – The Big Picture
A fine set of 60’s vintage Pop from the Texas singer songwriter., all done Marty
Lucinda Williams – Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone
An ambitious double album, the first on her new label, is another soul baring set from the queen of Americana Noir.
Marty Stuart – Saturday Night/Sunday Morning
This double album has it all, Country, Rock, and Hillbilly Soul, all done Mary Stuart style. The Gospel tunes on the “Sunday Morning” part of the record are worth the price of admission alone.
Trigger Hippy – Trigger Hippy
Three words Hammond B-3. This debut release from the semi super group Trigger Hippy features 70’s vintage Country Rock Laurel Canyon style.
Team Spirit – Killing Time
Power Pop with that extra dose of Post Punk just to make you feel alive.
