    • Ride on “Weather Diaries”
Timing is everything. Seminal early '90s U.K. group Ride broke up prior to the release of its—at the time—final album, 1996's Tarantula. Much was made of this split, marking it as acrimonious, when in reality it only lasted a few weeks with the members returning to each other quickly, albeit as friends, not band mates.

    • Strange Peace
Like II, the third entry from METZ makes no compromises. The Canadian hardcore trio have an uncanny knack for capturing lightning in a bottle. Their sound lays the ferocity and unrelenting power of their live shows onto tape. To sacrifice that for more expansive, appeasing sounds would be to give up what makes METZ, METZ.

A deluxe version is incoming, complete with material fans probably have not encountered before […]
    • Premiere: Boyfromthecrowd - 'Hitch That Ride' September 19, 2017

And it's quite the group, too: Boyfromthecrowd make debauched rock 'n' roll, fore […]

    • No, The North Doesn't Just Listen To Landfill Indie September 19, 2017
And the South enjoys its fair share of appalling music...When the winner of this year’s Hyundai Mercury Prize was announced there was little surprise that it came from London. After all, the metropolis dominated the shortlist, with South London in particular asserting a kind of creative stranglehold on the final countdown. But, as Clash commented at the time […]

    • Premiere: Sweaty Palms - 'Queer Fatwa' September 19, 2017
Dark post-punk from Glasgow...Sweaty Palms hail from Glasgow, a city with a seedy underbelly. The band seem to take this barely restrained aggression and channel it in their music, a dank, black-clad vision of post-punk bedlam. Antecedants could include everyone from The Fall to 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, a sound that is both violent and hilarious. Debut […]
    • Superfood - Bambino September 19, 2017
A strutting dollop of funky indie-pop indulgence...Losing a band member has historically sparked chaos for many a well-seasoned band. Like Blur without Graham Coxon or the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the years after John Frusciante departed, their respective band’s output noticeably dipped and missed that vital spark that gave the bands their core identity. Thr […]

"We don’t chase trends, because we want longevity..."An alternative to artists who follow the industry blueprint, churning out the “same old shit” on a conveyor belt, the ethos of THEY. (producer Dante Jones and vocalist Drew Love) is underscored by an unruly ambition to never sate but always challenge the status quo. “We don’t chase trends, becaus […]
